Macon County Chronicle - Visit Website - Industry - Online Media

Organization Description:

The Macon County Chronicle, located in Lafayette, Tennessee, got its start in 1993, when it was first published by a 2-person staff in the city of Red Boiling Springs, who dreamed of giving the community a voice. As its popularity grew, so did the Chronicle size and staff, and the weekly paper moved to a more centralized location in Lafayette so to better suit the needs of the county and its expanding readership, in 2005. Adding the first splash of color to its pages in August of 2005, The Chronicle has quadrupled in size since its first 8-page edition in ‘93 and has been titled ‘Macon County’s fasting growing’ and ‘largest circulating’ newspaper. Published every Tuesday, the Chronicle is Macon County’s only locally owned news source and is committed to providing the most accurate, up-to-date information and coverage of local events in the area.

Development Notes:

Main Street Media approached BeareWare looking for a design for the Macon County Chroncile that could become a standard that could be incorporated into other publications in the Main Street Media Family. The design of the website focused on the home page look - with design focus on the papers brand, the key areas of the papers (news, sports, obits, opinions, and classifieds), and a prominent choice of advertising including Google ads being offered on standard pages. The home page focused on offering three (3) key stories with images to be run with quick story links on the right hand side. The content management system (JOOMLA) that BeareWare designs with was a dream match up for the newspaper - allowing for easy defining of categories and sections. BeareWare used Paypal Shop as the payment gateway for the website with newspaper subscription and the classifieds system.

System Features include:

  • Custom Graphic Web Design - Design meeting & custom design layouts.
  • Content Management System (Joomla!) - allowing direct client management.
  • Advertising Module offering three formats.
  • Online subcription (to paper) and online classifieds.
  • Paypal Payment Gateway Setup.
  • Web Support Plus (BeareWare) - Advanced Support plan.
