Web Content Management - Administrator:

9:00 – 9:45 a.m. – Session I – Overview of your Joomla Website (1.0 & 1.5)

Having a good fundamental understanding of the structure of your website is critical in web content management. This includes understanding where your website is hosted, the type of website you have (Joomla), and the key elements that make up a Joomla website. This session will introduce Articles, Images (Media Manager), Menu, Components, Modules & Templates as well as global settings, user management, website editors and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), which sets the standard for the look and format of your website.

10:00 – 10:45 a.m. – Session II - Joomla Navigation & Content Structure

Effective content management starts with a strong understanding of your content structure. We examine article structure (Static Content and Blog Format) and review sections and categories for meaningful management of your websites articles. We also review Media Manager and have a Power Session (with Design Director Vicki Payne) that will focus on image management techniques and document management.

11:00 – 11:45 a.m. – Session III – Contacts, Components & Modules

Adding staff lists and contact forms is a great feature of a Joomla website. In Session III we will review setting up various contacts. We will also review other popular components that come with core Joomla including Banners, Search & Feeds. We will also review Joomla Modules, which are a key web content management element and can quite often be easily updated. They are used to display specific content and media throughout your website. We finish up the class by summarizing Search Engine Optimization (SEO) techniques that are highlighted throughout this class.
